Superior Integration & Enhanced Device Management Features

Director Software Release 3.1.0 is available now from the Net Optics Customer Portal. This upgrade provides technical enhancements for productivity, accuracy, and convenience to DIR-3400, DIR-5400, and DIR-7400 products. The changes will tighten integration features and expand traffic management capabilities substantially.

	Intuitive filter entry Ease filter configuration for greater scanning accuracy—each filter sees copies of all packets, regardless of higher priority filters. Filter mod (modify) command Change filter parameters quickly without the need to delete and re-enter the filter.
	NTP clock synchronization Network Time Protocol (NTP) synchronizes your clock automatically over packet-switched, variable-latency data networks for instant accuracy to within 10 milliseconds (NTOPv4), and includes support for Daylight Saving Time and leap seconds.
	Peak utilization RMON statistic This statistic lets you know the peak utilization on every port and the time when it occurred, giving you more insight into network performance.
	Show CPU and memory utilization Track CPU utilization and memory usage for improved insight into how much Director system resources are being used, isolating potential problems and supporting availability.
	Auditing and event logging Establish accountability, reconstruct events and activities, and carry out intrusion detection, and problem analysis more effectively.
	Complete configuration files Gain an up-to-date archive that records and stores changes made to the Director setup to ease future configurations and network tasks.
	DHCP address assignment For enterprise integration, the Director management IP address can be obtained automatically from your Dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) server without the need for administrator intervention.
	Port utilization threshold alarms Support network availability with information about the traffic load and bandwidth utilization on each port. Alarms trigger when the RMON utilization statistic exceeds the threshold you configure for each port.
	Prompt string length increased to 40 characters Create longer, more meaningful CLI prompt strings to facilitate identification of systems in multiple console windows.
	Set the system host name, description, location, and contact To enhance integration with your SNMP management system, the system set command can set four standard information fields, while quoted strings can also include embedded spaces and special characters for greater security. Added SNMP sysobjectid=23022 With sysobjectid set in the snmpd.com file, your SNMP management system will identify the device as “Director” instead of “net-SNMP-Linux”.
