The iBypass HD (High Density) provides a 1U, high port density bypass switch solution that provides failsafe ports for up to eight inline network security appliances such as intrusion prevention systems (IPSs) and firewalls.
The Net Optics iBypass HD is the highest density bypass switch available for in-line network security appliances, such as intrusion prevention systems (IPSs), Web application optimization devices, and firewalls.
The first of its kind, it supports two to eight segments, with each segment operating independently to ensure link protection. Single-segment and multi-segment IPS appliances can be connected, maintained, and removed without affecting traffic through the links or the operation of the other segments.
In addition, pairs of bypass switches can be linked in a high-availability (HA) configuration supporting both tool and link redundancy.

Insert or remove any 10 GigaBit fiber in-line appliance without downtime. Available in multimode and singlemode models to support fail-open monitoring at speeds up to 10,000 Mbps.
Net Optics 10 GigaBit Bypass Switches provide a permanent and trouble-free access port for in-line network security and monitoring devices. The 10 GigaBit Bypass Switch automatically switches network traffic through added in-line devices or bypasses devices that are about to be removed. Prevent link failure when attached IPS and IDS devices lose power by powering the Bypass Switch and in-line device from the same power source.
Simply Plug It In
High-availability for links with in-line devices is a snap with supplied cables. All network and monitoring cables necessary for plug-and-play deployment are included with the Bypass Switch.
Uninterrupted Traffic
The 10 GigaBit Bypass Switch supports fail-open monitoring with any fiber in-line device when it shares the same power source as the in-line appliance. While the Bypass Switch is receiving power, it diverts network traffic to attached in-line devices. In this state, all in-line traffic is routed directly to the device connected to the Bypass Switch. When power is lost, Fast Path maintains network link integrity with high-speed switching.
When the 10 GigaBit Bypass Switch loses power, in-line traffic continues to flow through the network link, but is no longer routed through the device. This allows the network devices to be removed and replaced without network downtime. Once power is restored to the Bypass Switch, network traffic is seamlessly diverted to the in-line device, allowing it to resume its critical functions.

Insert or remove any 10 GigaBit fiber in-line appliance without downtime. Available in multimode and singlemode models to support fail-open monitoring at speeds up to 10,000 Mbps.
Net Optics 10 GigaBit Bypass Switches provide access to critical links for in-line security appliance monitoring. All traffic is 100% visible without the worry of data loss or network downtime. The removal and deployment of in-line appliances is also enhanced as Bypass Switches remain in the network as permanent access ports.
The Bypass Switch retains link and traffic forwarding as fail-open technology protects against network link failure in the event of power loss. While the Bypass Switch is receiving power, the monitoring ports are active. In the event that power is lost the passive nature of the network ports transparently maintains traffic integrity and the monitoring ports change to a Bypass mode. When power is restored the monitoring ports return to active mode, and the in-line device is allowed to resume its critical functions.

Net Optics Optical Bypass Switches with Heartbeat provide a permanent and trouble-free access port for in-line network security and monitoring devices. The Optical Bypass Switch automatically switches network traffic through added in-line devices or bypasses devices that are about to be removed. With a heartbeat, the Optical Bypass Switch protects network traffic against both signal and power loss on the attached in-line device.
Link Fault Protection
The Optical Bypass Switch with Heartbeat monitors the link to the attached in-line device by sending a heartbeat packet to the device once every second. If the Optical Bypass Switch does not receive the heartbeat back, it automatically switches network traffic to bypass the unresponsive device-even if the device is still receiving power. The Optical Bypass continues to send the heartbeat and restores the traffic through the in-line device as soon as the link is restored.

The Multi-Segment Bypass Switch provides a 1U, high density, access solution for in-line network security appliances. Each of the four stations operates independently to ensure link protection monitoring of one to four critical network links at any one time. Individual IPS appliances can be connected, maintained or removed without affecting the operation of the remaining stations.
An exclusive Heartbeat feature monitors link status between the Bypass and monitoring tools for enhanced reliability. A configurable Heartbeat packet is injected into the monitor port link to help determine availability of attached monitoring tools. For instance, the Bypass Switch can automatically switch network traffic around an unresponsive IPS appliance – even if the IPS is still powered on. Once the IPS re-establishes a connection, traffic is re-routed to the monitor port for continued operation.
Fail-open Link Fault Protection
For added reliability, each of the stations feature active fail-open network link technology. In the event of power loss to the Bypass Switch, traffic continues to flow through the network links, but is no longer routed to the monitoring tools. Additionally, redundant power supplies are a standard feature.
Each of the Bypass Switches also supports fail-open protection via the Heartbeat packet, in the event power to the monitoring tool fails.
Uninterrupted Data Transfers
Use of a Bypass Switch ensures that important data on critical links does not fail due to in-line devices. This allows attached monitoring tools to be removed and replaced without network downtime. This alleviates issues with traffic congestion affecting performance and link behavior caused by an IPS. Once an IPS behaves as expected, network traffic is seamlessly diverted to the in-line device again, allowing it to resume its critical functions.
High Performance, Low Latency
The Net Optics throughput and real-time data forwarding hardware helps monitoring tools ensure data protection and does not cause interruption to critical applications like VoIP communications. A Bypass Switch and in-line monitoring tool create a comprehensive solution for improved Infrastructure Prevention and network health.
