Fully RoHS Compliant Net Optics products have changed part numbers to coincide with our RoHS compliance program. Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) is an environmental directive, enacted by the European Union, intended to eliminate hazardous substances in manufactured goods that may enter the environment when the products reach end of life.

Beginning July 1, 2006 all Net Optics products will begin to be marketed under the new part numbers. These new part numbers indicate that the product conforms to RoHS requirements. All Net Optics products ordered after July 1, 2006 should be ordered under the new Net Optics part number to meet RoHS compliancy.

For more information regarding the Net Optics, Inc. part number conversion or RoHS compliancy, please view this helpful presentation.

WEEE Policy - Directive 2002/96/EC In accordance with Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 27 January 2003, Net Optics is posting our commitment and policy regarding the collection and management of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE). As a core component of our corporate vision is to accept responsibility to preserve our environment and benefit our communities, we are happy to comply with this new requirement.

As of August 13, 2006, and in compliance Article 6, Item 5 of the WEEE Directive, Net Optics has opted to institute a take back program to manage the collection and management of WEEE. This item allows for the export of WEEE out of the European Union for purposes of executing the re-use, recycling, recovery or other treatment of WEEE.

Because the WEEE Directive dictates support at the "end-of-life" of products, the nature of the Net Optics support program will be subject to change between the time a customer purchases our product, and years later when they ultimately decide to dispose of it. This being the case, Net Optics makes the following commitment:
  1. In accordance with the WEEE directive, Net Optics will arrange for the collection and treatment of WEEE at no expense to the customer
  2. The current process for collection of WEEE will always be available on this Website or by contacting our Tech Support at +49 (0)6103/906-767, who will provide clear and simple instructions to arrange for the collection of WEEE.
Net Optics looks forward to this opportunity to work with our customers and the European Union to reduce the environmental impact resulting from the continuous improvement and advancement of our products.

Net Optics WEEE Process
Per our WEEE policy statement, as of August 13, 2006, Net Optics has committed to meeting the requirements of Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament (the WEEE Directive) by institution and execution of a product end-of-life take back program.

To arrange for the return of an end-of-life WEEE product:

WEEE End-of-Life recycling plan
WEEE Recycle plan proposal filters the equipment into five categories to manage re-use and recovery of material

Level 1: Returned equipment which works and looks like new is checked and tested to ensure reliability and is then available for resale.

Level 2: Returned equipment, which works like new, but is cosmetically blemished or damaged. This equipment is refurbished, tested to a high standard for reliability and safety, and then can be sold into the marketplace in areas where the customer may prefer a lower price with all the features and benefits of a new piece of equipment.

Level 3: The whole item of equipment is deemed unusable and the sub assemblies and PCB's are in reasonable condition. These are removed from the equipment, tested and cleaned, packaged and returned into the spares market for the manufacturer.

Level 4: Once we reach this level, the equipment is ready to be dismantled with all the component parts segregated for disposal through the right channels (i.e. glass, plastic, metals).

Level 5: Only the remaining material will ever be disposed of in to the waste stream, and only through qualified recycling/waste management facility.
